Aroma: There's a really nice balance between the malt, the grain, and the finish here. The age is apparent with some dark honeyed, almost musty, malt. The grain shines through with vanilla bean and butterscotch. The finish emerges with fresh picked cranberries, tart cherries, and pomegranate. Seasoned oak is present throughout, holding everything together. Taste: Soft with a medium viscosity. Sweet vanilla custard topped with cranberries, raspberries, and tart cherries, with butterscotch drizzle. More seasoned oak with barrel spices and baking spices complete the sip. Finish: Lingers for a while with soft oak tannins, vanilla, and barrel spices. Summary: Unmistakably Dewar's at its core. The finish doesn't overpower the whiskey, but instead it adds depth and complexity. Expertly crafted. I can't believe this was on clearance for $31.

About this bottle
Dewar's Scotch Whisky presents a limited edition, 19 Year The Champions Edition (2023), created to honor the 123rd US Open Championship scheduled for June 15-18, 2023, at The Los Angeles Country Club (LACC). Dewar's Master Blender Stephanie Macleod crafted this 19-year-old blended Scotch whisky, which is a blend of up to 40 different grain and single malt whiskies. Following its initial maturation, it is finished in American oak casks that have been seasoned with red wine from Napa Valley. Notably, this is the first Dewar's release to be finished in casks that previously held non-fortified wine. It is available starting June 2023 with a suggested retail price of $79.99.

Red wine aromas on the nose. The palate was smooth, velvety, buttery, with berries, honey, and oak that persisted throughout the finish.
