I'm a fan of Devils River bourbon and rye, so finding this bottle made me eager to try it! I hadn't seen it elsewhere and was puzzled as to why it wasn't listed yet. Regardless, I genuinely enjoy this for what it is! My experience with coffee whiskey or flavored whiskey generally is that it's difficult to drink neat; it can be a bit overwhelming in my opinion. But this is likely among the best flavored whiskeys I've encountered. I favor this coffee bourbon over Jameson cold brew Irish whiskey. This coffee bourbon presents a sweet coffee aroma on the nose, and upon tasting, you can truly discern the difference between the bourbon and coffee notes. It's akin to iced coffee with sweetener, mixed with a subtle amount of alcohol proof, and the bourbon's vanilla and cherry flavor profile. The finish of this is pleasant. I detect no alcohol burn whatsoever, and the typical bourbon characteristics fade more quickly than the coffee notes. I appreciate being left with an iced coffee aftertaste rather than a bourbon one. In my view, this is best appreciated when added to a bit of iced coffee. I just mixed it with Starbucks cold brew, and it became considerably better (not solely because it became an alcoholic beverage, but because the bourbon notes enhance the cold brew, giving it a more distinctive taste). I truly enjoy this one; I'm unsure why it's not more widely available.

About this bottle
This bottling starts with a Vienna Roast coffee blend, prepared by a San Antonio roaster using ethically sourced beans from Honduras, Colombia, and Brazil. Devils River then infuses these coffee beans into their Small Batch Bourbon through a cold brew method, steeping for at least 24 hours. The bourbon is naturally flavored with blue weber agave nectar and is bottled at 80 proof. (SRP $31.99)

I rated this a 4 because it serves my purpose well. I drink it in place of an Irish coffee. It tastes more like strong coffee with prominent bourbon notes rather than bourbon with a coffee hint.
Intense coffee aromas and the taste is equally strong. It's a specific flavor for a specific mood, but it's great when you're craving it.
My first experience with flavored whiskey. Very strong coffee flavor, with subtle bourbon notes. Best enjoyed for fun, not as a serious whiskey.
All coffee on the nose. Lots of chocolate on the palate. A sweetness that remains for just the right duration on the finish.
Tastes like watered-down, low-quality coffee with minimal bourbon flavor. It still burns on the finish, though.
