About this bottle

Following a change in ownership at Ballast Point Brewing & Spirits, the founder, master brewer, and other employees departed to establish a new distillery named Cutwater. Many of the spirit names have been retained. This whiskey displays characteristics similar to its predecessor, being distilled in small batches and aged in heavily-charred American oak barrels.

Incredible! Wow, this is remarkably good. I had been considering it for a while but hesitated due to the price. It dropped significantly, and I'm thrilled I purchased it. The rye offers a bold, spicy hit, followed by mellow vanilla that smooths out the spice's wildness. Cordial cherries are present, intensifying the frenzy of the front-end flavors. A touch of chocolate rounds out the palate, leaving a clean finish. I'm definitely going back for more. Get this immediately! It's like finding a gem where you least expect it.

One of the finest American whiskeys I've had, tasting batch 2 from Ballast Point.

Sweet caramel and vanilla on the nose and palate. It has a smooth finish.
