The aroma offers mint and other botanicals over a base of spice and grass. The taste is mildly grassy, with notes of cinnamon, spice, oak, and it's not excessively sweet or unusual. It has a medium body. It's less aggressive than most agricoles I've encountered, suggesting it might be aged for a couple of years, though the bottle doesn't specify.

About this bottle
The Depaz family estate, situated in the northwest region of Martinique near the city of Saint-Pierre, cultivates the blue sugarcane used in their rhum production. Established in 1651, the estate was rebuilt by the Depaz family in 1915 after being devastated by a volcanic eruption from Mount Pelée in 1902. The family's products meet such high standards that they have received the prestigious Appelation d’Origine Controlee (AOC) designation for excellence. The Rhum is aged in custom oak casks and blended without additives, a requirement of their AOC award. Depaz Blue Cane Rhum Agricole is released in limited batches at 90-proof for the U.S. market.
