Citizen Spirits, a New York-based company, offers the Denizen rum line (whose tagline is Free the Flavor). E&A Scheer, a respected rum blender in the Netherlands, custom-crafts these rums. Nick Pelis, the founder of Citizen Spirits, stated that his inspiration for the Aged White flavor profile was the creation of the perfect daiquiri rum. It is a blend of Caribbean rums, with eighty percent coming from Trinidad's Angostura distillery and the rest from various Jamaican distilleries. Although it is labeled as a “three-year-old rum,” the blend includes significantly older and unaged rums, making “three years” an approximate average age. It undergoes light charcoal filtration before bottling to remove color.

Wow! This rum is excellent for its price. Packed with flavor. It begins grassy and sweet, much like cachaça or a Martinique rum. This is followed by the distinct hogo of a fine Jamaican rum, trailing off into a pleasant finish of smooth, mellow aging that blends well with the funk.
More complex than anticipated. Distinctive and woody with the expected sweetness. Banana notes in aroma and flavor throughout.
Slightly grassy with a hint of sweetness, making an excellent mojito. A bargain at $13.
