Del Bac Distiller's Cut 19-3

Nose: fig, dusty malt, faint tobacco and leather, chai spices Taste: honey, butterscotch, maple syrup, raisins, citrus zest Finish: leather, clove, black pepper Acquired this after a distillery tour. Some notes are harder to detect than in their standard Dorado. If it was mesquite smoked, it's so subtle it only faintly appears in the classic Del Bac tobacco note. It's difficult to ascertain the impact of the tequila barrels without comparing it directly to their 19-1 and 19-2 distiller's cuts. If you can find it, it's worth exploring as it is quite complex and unique. Being from Arizona, I am undoubtedly biased, but I believe Hamilton Distillers is truly pioneering American Single Malt, especially within the southwestern region.

Strikingly dark in color. Potent aromas of overripe dark fruit, leather, vanilla, butterscotch, brown sugar, and Lemon Pledge. Smoke is present but requires searching. Viscous, oily mouthfeel. The extra intensity from the 116% abv is spot on. This has a sophisticated flavor profile. Just sweet enough to be engaging, but not overpowering. Light oak and subtle citrus notes surround a very Scotch-like flavor essence. Overall, wonderful. 4.15.

The barrel aging adds some intricacy and helps temper the mesquite smoke slightly, though it's still noticeable. At approximately $65, this offers excellent value.

A pleasant smoky aftertaste. Smooth, with notes of leather and hints of vanilla.
