While I'm not a great admirer of Deanston, this US exclusive ranks among their finest expressions I've tried. The tangy, fruity distillate harmonizes effectively with the dusty cocoa and cream notes imparted by the stout cask finish. There are no harsh elements despite the spirit's relative youth—around six years—and it drinks smoothly either neat or with a dash of water. At just $65 a bottle, I'd choose this over any of their aged wine-cask finishes

A reliable pour. Easy to drink. Medium finish. A trace of smoke.
