Finish: A medium-long finish with leather, burnt oak, and faint wisps of smoke. Spicy and buttery mouthfeel on the finish, with a tannic and slightly drying aftertaste. Finished in Moroccan Cabernet Sauvignon & North American (Indiana) Rye Casks. Two-thirds finished in Moroccan Cabernet Sauvignon casks. The spirit is 10 years old, including 3 years in the finishing casks. One-third finished in Indiana rye casks. The spirit is 12 years old, including 3 years in the finishing casks. This is a darkly fruity and spicy dram. The primary characteristics are the spice, fruit, and an oily/buttery mouthfeel, leading to an ultimately dry finish. It was voted first out of the five drams (excluding the new make spirit) with 44% of the final vote for favorite of the night. 94% of attendees indicated they enjoyed the whiskey.
