Shelby Tejeda 4.0

A birthday gift from my son, and I'm pleased he chose it. I must admit I didn't have high hopes upon opening it recently, but I was agreeably surprised. The nose is pleasant, with hints of vanilla and green apple. It has a medium body and a very satisfying lingering finish. I'd be interested in comparing this in a blind tasting with some of my bourbon companions to gauge their opinions. Give it a try!

Maci Shelton 4.0

It smells of butterscotch with a hint of spice. It's a bit less than medium in body, smooth with a slight burn on the tongue. The flavor is spicy, with even a little fruitiness, I'm thinking red apples. I truly enjoyed this. By the way, I'm a big baseball fan, but that didn't influence my opinion of the whiskey.

Margery Todd 3.0

This exhibits surprising complexity for a younger, blended product. The nose has an edge of orange peel and light sawdust, followed by sweet wood on the palate before a wave of crackling spice. I'm somewhat surprised, but I would happily drink this.

Nikita Hicks 3.3

Not much on the nose. Slight apple and pecan. Tannic and leather on the first sip. Good lengthy linger and full mouth taste. Ice doesn't change much. It softens the mild burn and makes it smoother. I would recommend this to others. Good for after work as an evening sipper.

Mila Conn 3.5

Smells exactly like buttered popcorn with a pepper note. A lot of spice and barrel on the palate. Medium finish. Pretty good for a blend of sourced MGP + their own distillate, especially at a low to mid-price. I like it. Will probably buy again.

Darien Rubin 2.0

I'm uncertain if this is intended purely as a novelty, but it's certainly not my preferred bourbon. It's not awful, but it's not particularly good either. I might have rated it a quarter star higher if it still had the previous label...
