Dogfish Head, initially a brewpub in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, established a distillery in its former brewing location after moving production in 2002. This distillery now produces Compelling Gin, named for its variety of ingredients. The gin is based on the distillery's "Analog Vodka" (made from 2-row barley) and is redistilled with 12 botanicals: juniper, coriander seed, angelica root, black peppercorn, lemon peel, green cardamom, hibiscus, orris root, orange peel, lime peel, kaffir lime leaves, and cinnamon. It is bottled at 44% ABV.

The aroma is complex, with citrus, floral notes, and no juniper. It tastes as it smells, slightly overpowering when consumed neat. Delicious when mixed with pink grapefruit tonic and orange.
The flavor descriptions on the label are accurate but overwhelming. The cardamom seems to be the most prominent note for me. It's definitely a gin for mixing.
Yes, it’s “unconventional” but I really like this gin. It's not for everyone served cold and straight, but it's fantastic in a G&T and French 75.
The aroma has notes of black pepper and a touch of the tail cuts. The taste is subtly spicy, lingering in an unpleasant manner.
I made one of the best Gin & Tonics ever using this and Alpine Tonic from Sweetwater Mountain Elixers!
