Código 1530 Origen Extra Añejo Tequila

The aroma is deep, woody, earthy, sweet, and somewhat herbal with traces of spice. The taste is dry, woody, minty, and generally acrid. The woodiness does possess a pleasant depth of flavor, however. It becomes quite bitter at the conclusion, but prior to that, it exhibits a fine, undulating complexity. It harmonizes well with the caramel sweetness. While it lacks the complexity of Glenfarclas 25, it bears a slight resemblance. This is a very dry spirit, yet exceptionally rich. The bitterness is somewhat pronounced and it does emphasize the alcohol slightly, but it also serves to obscure it somewhat. The cocoa note is quite beneficial. There's a touch of mint, but it's minimal. Lemon is more apparent than lime, but not at all overwhelming. Vanilla is present but not overly showy, and floral notes are scarce. The richness coupled with the sweetness creates a robust core flavor that has a mild salivating effect and introduces subtlety throughout. The finish is a touch too dry, but still quite enjoyable. The barrel spices are restrained and suit the drink well. It doesn't strongly evoke tequila, but it does have a few characteristic notes. It's difficult to identify the spirit type, but its quality is undeniable. This is the closest contender to Fuentesca I've encountered. It's a close call between a rating of 17 and 18.

One of the finest tequilas I have ever encountered. Exceptionally smooth and packed with flavors such as vanilla, caramel, raisins, jalapeños, cream soda, Luxardo cherries, cranberries, maple syrup, hazelnuts, blood oranges, mocha, and dark chocolate, all while retaining the earthy agave essence of pepper and truffles. It could easily be mistaken for cognac, single malt, or Armagnac in a blind tasting.

As someone who doesn't typically enjoy tequila, this bottle almost convinced me otherwise. It drinks more like a cognac or a high-quality rum and appears to be aged longer than indicated.

This is from a pricey bottle. It smells like caramel with a touch of spice. It goes down remarkably smoothly, like water.

This spirit has a profile similar to Don Ju '42, but with less vanilla. There's a subtle hint of spice, best appreciated when consumed neat.

Wonderfully smooth. The wine influence is subtle and balanced, even with the extended aging.
