Clynelish 12 Year The Wildcats Golden Gaze (2022 Special Release)

Color: Pale brass. Nose: Vanilla, agave nectar, and candied almonds. Allspice and rye bread contribute warm, baked notes. Palate: Sherry notes are primary, with a thick, waxy mouthfeel. Pleasant light fruit notes mingle with an almost earthy, vegetal character. Finish: Rich baked goods are accompanied by a gentle spice, with hints of apples and orchard fruits. After Dilution: Warm aromas of mulled cider and buttered toast on the nose, with a sweeter, softer palate. The finish further highlights the bourbon characteristics underneath the sherry.

Aroma: Bright and aromatic, with citrus fruits sweetened by honey, fresh orchard fruits, and a whisper of waxy vanilla. Taste: Rich and intricate, showcasing layers of dried golden raisins, dark chocolate, and a hint of warming spice. Aftertaste: Extended and gratifying, with lingering sweetness, dried fruits, and Clynelish's characteristic waxiness.

The final of four samples tasted. The bottle was not seen. Quite unremarkable, it wasn't unpleasant but lacked any distinct character.
