Climax Moonshine Fire No. 32

My father enjoys a show about illegal distillers. It features folks from a small town trying to avoid police in the mountains. He eventually went legal, bringing his recipes to distilleries and releasing a corn whiskey with taxes paid. I am reviewing the Fire No.32, a cinnamon flavored moonshine honoring a fire department. It is 45% ABV and clear, poured into a Mason jar. I am using a Glencain, because I am a refined country person. There is a distinction. I got this bottle in Virginia and took it to my dad in WV. He wished to taste it and keep some for associates who view the program, I presume. I will not elaborate much because it is simply flavored, unaged corn whiskey and does not warrant such effort. Furthermore, if the locals discovered my detailed thoughts, they would likely shame me and banish me from town. The most prominent notes are clearly cinnamon. This has a blend of candy-like, Red Hots flavor, combined with actual cinnamon sticks. It smells superior to Fireball, but then again, most things do. There is minimal corn aroma, but it is definitely present on the palate. It tastes like Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal and creamed corn (sounds appealing, doesn't it). And sugar—a significant amount of sugar. Seriously, my teeth ache. It is exceptionally smooth, as one would expect, given that genuine moonshine is typically well over 120 proof. Since this is not, it should be easy to drink, and I suppose it is. The aftertaste is sugar and cinnamon sticks, lasting indefinitely. It just goes on and on. If I were to evaluate this as a standard moonshine, I would give it 3 stars. It is excessively sweet and also too weak. Shine should have an immediate impact, but this will cause stomach distress long before intoxication. It's mediocre, just hype from television. At $30 for 750ml, it is also excessively expensive. Yeehaw, everyone!!

Cinnamon with a touch of vanilla. I love it! Also appreciate the tribute to firefighters on the back label.

I'm not a big fan of moonshine, but this one is a wonderful cinnamon explosion. It would warm you up on a chilly day.
