About this bottle

Rhum Clément X.O. is a product of Martinique that is no longer in production. It will be replaced by a different marque because the 1952 vintage, which is crucial to its flavor, has been depleted. The blend also contains rhums from 1970 and 1976. This is a fine example of the French style.

Ariella Ely 4.0

Clément presents an elegant rhum Agricole from Martinique, featuring spirits from the 1970s and even the 1950s, alongside younger vintages. It begins aromatically and vegetally with sugar and earth notes; a bold middle develops notes of spicy oak, dried fruit, and mild smoke; leading to a lengthy and intricate finish. Uncertain about this specific bottling. One word: elegant. Highly polished and intricate, with many layers. I do not detect grassy notes. More floral, in my opinion. Reminded me of mild Highland/Speyside Scotch. Quite unlike typical rum. Still, a superb one. Strongly endorse.

Has my perspective on rum shifted? I believe so... Truly an incredible spirit that I'm fortunate to have had the opportunity to sample! Experienced at TOTC 2016. Panel: When is Rum Not a Rum?

Maryam Sherman 4.0

Notes of licorice, oak, and tobacco, with some overripe fruit. This was one of my initial experiences with aged rum, and it's quite a lot to process. There's an unusual lingering taste I'm not used to.

Lorrie Helms 4.0

Aroma: bubblegum and some baking spice. Faint alcohol. Flavor: a bit of bubblegum, very woody in places but not overwhelming. Well-rounded.

Initially sampled in St. Barts during a vacation with a friend. Difficult to locate. Found it in London. Purchased it in St. Thomas.
