Rating: 15/23 Anticipating this release. Given that a certain vodka from this brand is a personal favorite, expectations are high. Nose: It's sweeter than anticipated, with a toasted character reminiscent of freshly baked oak. A slight spicy kick is present. Palate: A spicy, lemony profile with clean, sweet mineral water and some thickness. The spice is remarkably potent, almost sharp but not quite. A larger sip reveals a grainy richness, though not distinctly rye, more like corn and wheat with a touch of bitterness. Then, rye notes emerge. There's a hint of alcohol and some minerality. Finish: Mildly spicy with a touch of bitterness at the end, followed by a smooth sweetness and lingering grain. Quite pleasant. - Conclusion - This is a well-made spirit. However, it doesn't quite reach the level of a certain vodka from the same brand or another preferred spirit. It falls short of a top score, likely a 14 or 15. While it's a commendable rye vodka, rye vodka isn't a preferred category. It stands as the best example of its type tried so far. A slight increase in ratings for other preferred spirits could elevate this one, but ultimately, it's just vodka, making extremely high marks difficult to justify.
