About this bottle

Chinaco, named after 18th and 19th-century landowners who fought in Mexican wars, is the only tequila brand produced in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas. Chinaco Negro Extra Añejo, a limited, single batch tequila, is aged 5 years in oak. It uses organic blue weber agave from the Sierra Madre Oriental Mountain, grown at elevations from hundreds to thousands of feet. The recipe and the sugarcane press used for piña extraction have been consistent since 1978. This tequila is bottled at 43% ABV.

This is among my top choices—specifically, the top two (this and Avion 44). It has a seemingly sweet, vanilla profile but possesses just enough of a bite to remind you it's still tequila. Sip this while enjoying s'mores (or Handel's Graham Central Station ice cream)—this might be the most unusual suggestion you read on this platform, but you'll be grateful later.

A very good tequila with notes of cooked agave, Mexican hot chocolate, cinnamon, anise, pepper, caramel, melons, green chilies, butterscotch, bananas, pineapples, cantaloupes, and maple syrup.
