To start, I must admit I didn't enjoy this one initially. I perceived it as a high-proof, young bourbon. However, after letting it open up and revisiting it on a cool evening with relaxed music and a fire, I couldn't imagine a better bourbon. It presents a rich, heavily charred taste, balanced by sweet and jammy notes. The nose is full of wood and the palate offers great spice (think the entire spice rack). The finish continues with spices, leading to a slightly bitter, dry conclusion. Seriously, if you have this, take it outside, enjoy it by a fire, and tell me I'm mistaken.

Appreciation to the distillery for a well-made product. It drinks as if it were older than it is. Iowa bourbon that is very well-made.
I enjoyed this at a bar in NYC and subsequently bought a bottle for my collection.
