This Cadenhead's malt, sourced from an unnamed Kildalton distillery, is likely one of the infrequent independent bottlings of Lagavulin. Mineral peat smoke, oysters, and coal tar immediately transport you to Islay, with undertones of pine needles, anise, and seaweed appearing. An impressive aroma for a 7-year-old whisky! The initial taste is raw and pungent, hitting the palate with a peat surge. Dry citrus, honey, and a bitter resin follow closely, leading to a lengthy, briny, and somewhat rough finish. This is like 'Big Peat on steroids' and a surefire remedy for colds. RATING: 3.9/5.0 stars ≙ 86 pts → FIRST-CLASS [-]
