Junior Coles 3.5

Review #59 - Whisk(e)y #43 Tasted in Otopeni Airport, Romania, as part of a complimentary sample offer, hence I am unfortunately unable to provide a detailed aroma description as I normally do. This was sampled after the Feteasca Neagra Cask version, which might have affected my impression of it Chill-filtered - No Added Colour - No ABV - 46% Nose - The tasting circumstances didn't allow much room for assessment, but oily, sweet, honey, and rather intense, woody, though not the typical oak...I suspect it's the limousin oak usually used for cognac maturation. Palate - Wow, this was exceptionally mellow, even "smooth", sweet, dense woodiness, cinnamon (without the heat, if that makes sense), honey, great mouthcoating texture. Finish - medium-long, creamy, with fading aromas, not very complex, toasty malt, perhaps a slight alcohol burn noticeable here. This is very enjoyable for a novice, as it is extremely accessible, and mellow...however, it is very one-dimensional and straightforward. Not as captivating as the Feteasca Neagra cask from Carpathian, but still enjoyable. Unfortunately, it may not be worth the high price.
