Review #58 - Whisk(e)y #42 Sampled at the Otopeni Airport in Romania, as part of a complimentary offer, unfortunately preventing a detailed aroma analysis as I typically provide. Chill-filtered - No Added Colour - No ABV - 46% Aroma - The tasting circumstances offered limited opportunity for aroma assessment, but I detected oily, honey, grape, and surprisingly very little alcohol. Palate - This was unexpectedly delightful! Initially, it resembled a port-cask finish, with high acidity, white grape, and a viscous texture, but then the Feteasca Neagra varietal truly revealed itself. It tastes like a lighter red wine, with some spice, red fruit, and perhaps cherry. It's certainly unique and intriguing. Finish - Extended...oily, creamy, with a pleasant texture, and a lingering red wine aroma. I've seen this Romanian single malt advertised, but it hasn't made it to my top purchasing priorities... until now. However, considering its age, the current price point doesn't seem entirely justified.

This distinctive whiskey offered a dark fruit aroma. Upon the first taste, you're met with a syrupy sweet dark fruit flavor, and the heat hits the nose but not the back of your tongue. The finish is smooth and sweet again. Fantastic stuff for Romania's first entry!
