I haven't encountered a disappointing Caol Ila yet, and this youthful, sherry-aged Càrn Mòr is no exception. The nose presents medicinal and sweet-peppery notes, reminiscent of BBQ sauce, dark fruits, and menthol cigarettes. Iodine, sea salt, and a hint of banana also appear. The palate combines strawberry cream, black pepper, and briny peat smoke with caramel, honey, and salted licorice. The long finish, characterized by ash, minerality, and a lingering taste, concludes with cinnamon, plum jam, and tobacco. A spirit-forward Islay malt offered at a reasonable price, reinforcing why this is my preferred distillery. RATING: 3.7 out of 5.0 stars, equivalent to 85 points, which is considered ABOVE AVERAGE.
