The initial aroma is delicate with many light fruit notes and some lemon citrus. Then, vanilla and wood char appear, likely from the American Oak barrels. A reviewer mentioned ginger, and I'm very impressed because it took me a while to find that note, but it's definitely there if you look closely. Ironically, as soon as I detected the ginger, the charred note vanished, and I was back to those sweet fruity notes. This whiskey offers a lot for a lowland, yet it's never aggressive. Considering the cost, I would strongly recommend it.

It took a lot of effort to discover anything intriguing here. I found it to be weak and floral, and too delicate to even tolerate water. Water completely overwhelmed it. It's likely the fluoride. It came from the garden hose, after all. Not my hose, though. My neighbors'. I have hoses everywhere. Not a large quantity of water, mind you, just a few drops I shook off the end. It's a technique I've acquired through years of necessary daily urination with my natural equipment. But anyway, yes, a few drops of water ruined this, and I was disappointed.

I can't say I enjoyed this. It's possibly the most uninteresting scotch I've encountered. I'm doubtful this is a suitable introduction to scotch for bourbon drinkers. If this had been my initial scotch experience, I likely wouldn't have tried another. I've experimented with adding water, ice, whiskey stones, and smoke. None of it made a difference. This one goes into my 'no thank you' collection.

This is remarkably well-rounded. A gentle smokiness on the nose evokes campfire marshmallow roasting. A touch of fruity sweetness is also there. Vanilla and sweetness emerge on the palate. Some spicy elements transition into cinnamon. It has a velvety texture. Excellent harmony and complexity. This will be a permanent fixture on my shelf!

Light-bodied and easy to drink, it actually has a lot going on, even if it's not groundbreaking. Muted notes of citrus, tropical fruit, honey, barley, malt, barrel spices, milky tea, and chocolate contend with ethanol and astringency to a draw.
