In 1949, a marriage took place, and that same year, the acquisition of a father-in-law's still was finalized. This partnership led to the creation of Cachaçaria Spézia in Luiz Alves, Santa Catarina, a designated origin for cachaça. Initially, the family grew their own sugarcane and processed it for supplies. Later, molasses was transported by cart from nearby settlers for production. The small business expanded, enabling the purchase of equipment to boost output and meet regional demand. Generally, the cachaça ages for two to thirty-five years in oak casks, imparting distinct flavors and sophistication. With over 70 varieties, they now produce handcrafted, high-quality spirits from selected ingredients, boasting a 75-year heritage. There are two distinct labels for Cachaça Spezia Ouro Carvalho, each representing a different batch from the same 2020 harvest. This happened because the initial batch on August 14, 2020, used the prior label, while the second batch on September 1, 2020, featured the updated bottle label. Noteworthy elements include caramel coloring, aromatic toffee, vanilla, dried fruit, and almonds, with a lengthy finish.
