The Sô Nicó distillery in Dores do Turvo, Minas Gerais, has been crafting this cachaça for 38 years through a family tradition passed down from grandfather to grandson, involving handmade methods and strict quality assurance. A young couple now manages the operation. Sugarcane is grown and harvested manually on-site. After crushing, the juice undergoes natural fermentation without additives, contributing to its quality and flavor. Distillation occurs in a copper still, followed by aging in wood barrels. The Sô Nicó Jequitibá is aged for one year in jequitibá barrels. This 42% ABV spirit presents as clear, dense, and bright, with a delicate floral and fruity aroma. The taste is sweet, smooth, and intense, with good body and balanced acidity, making it a fine pairing with fresh cheese and fish. Tasting notes include aromatic, sugarcane sweetness, floral, fruity, good body, alcohol, balanced acidity and sugar, and a long finish. It received a Gold Medal at the 11th Cachças Contest by ExpoCachaça in 2022 and a Sensorial Merit at the 10th Cachças Contest by ExpoCachaça in 2021.
