Cachaça Senhor dos Passos is produced in Antônio dos Santos, a district of Caeté in the Serra da Piedade region of Minas Gerais, a Brazilian state known for quality artisanal cachaças. According to the producer, this cachaça is made using an artisanal process, with manual cane cutting, fermented in stainless steel vats, and distilled in copper stills, using only the heart of the cachaça as the final product. All equipment is copper and stainless steel, ensuring strict quality control from grinding to bottling, resulting in an extremely high-quality cachaça. The still's history began with the family patriarch, who for over 28 years balanced his executive career with his passion for agriculture, always supported by his wife. This passion was passed to the children, who always accompanied him. One pursued Agricultural Engineering to continue the legacy. The farm, once exclusively for growing bananas, decided to produce cachaça during a family gathering. The owners' passion for this traditional Brazilian drink led them to plant sugar cane, replacing bananas, to produce this appreciated spirit with high quality standards, constantly improving techniques. Everyone involved took several courses, and the agronomist now serves as master distiller and technician, bringing quality and modernity to production. The name originates from a traditional ritual over 200 years old in the Igreja Matriz de Nossa Senhora de Nazaré, where the still is located. On Ash Wednesday, the cedar sculpture of Nosso Senhor dos Passos is removed from the altar and bathed in cachaça. The liquid is stored and shared among the faithful, believed to bring grace and healing. Legend says cachaça preserves the holy image and prevents wood deterioration.
