Cachaça Sanhaçu is crafted in Chã Grande, Pernambuco. The Barreto Silva family has farmed organically since 1993, and the cachaça, produced since 2008, is certified organic. Sanhaçu Sugar Mill is recognized as Brazil's first solar-powered facility. They employ a sophisticated agroforestry system with native trees, creating a wildlife sanctuary, including the Sanhaçu bird that inspired the name. The mill prioritizes resource reuse, utilizing renewable energy sources like solar and wind, and recycling rainwater. This environmental commitment earned them the Zero Carbon Certificate in 2013. Cachaça Sanhaçu Freijó, a 600ml bottle with 40% ABV, is aged for two years in freijó barrels, native to the Amazon. It's a light spirit suitable for appetizers like cheese, salads, fish, and shellfish, and can be enjoyed neat or in cocktails. The Sanhaçu bird's prevalence on the property led to the cachaça's name. It received its Organic Cachaça seal in 2008. Source: Cachaçaria Nacional.
