This cachaça comes from a distillery in Rio Espera, Minas Gerais, proving that patience and persistence lead to success. The founder, who once worked the land in the Rio Espera area, vowed to create his own cachaça. This ambition took root and eventually blossomed. Years later, his father acquired new property, providing a secure place for the founder to realize his aspiration. In 1982, the Cachaçaria Rio Mineiro was established in Rio Espera/MG, named after the town. Initially, they produced 500 liters annually, with the founder's wife assisting at the still. They soon recognized the significant market potential for artisanal cachaças, sparking a new ambition to increase output. Though the family and business grew over time, it wasn't until 2010 that the founder's sons decided to expand production, upgrade the distillery equipment, and invest in aging the cachaça. Rio Mineiro received its first regional award for best cachaça in 2016 and now offers over 10 distinct products. The Cachaça Rio Mineiro Cinco Madeiras 500ml is aged for one year in jequitibá, then 1.5 years in oak, 2 years in amburana vats, 1.5 years in balsam barrels, and finally 2 years in sassafras cinnamon barrels. With 39% ABV, this spirit has a pale gold color, a sweet and fruity scent, hints of spice and nuts, and a refreshing finish that is a burst of flavors.
