The name Peruaçu, meaning "big cave" in Tupi Guarani, references the Cavernas do Peruaçu National Park in northern Minas Gerais, an archaeological site with over 140 caves and ancient cave paintings. Janelão cave, part of the park, is notably the world's largest by volume and features the planet's tallest stalactite. This ecological sanctuary is located in Januária, Minas Gerais, along the São Francisco River in a semi-arid region. Sugarcane is cultivated in valleys surrounded by limestone quarries. The cachaça, at 42% ABV, embodies the finest qualities of artisanal cachaças from Januária/MG. Its production involves stringent quality control from sugarcane selection to aging for 2 years in amburana wood barrels, imparting woody notes, honey, dried fruits, and sweet spices for an exceptional aroma and flavor. Best served neat and slightly chilled. From Cachaça Peruaçu.
