The name Ipueira refers to the terrain known as a charco, which forms in low areas from river flooding. Donato Feitosa, the patriarch, whose family has operated the still for three generations, established the Ipueira mill in 1936. Among its notable features is a machine from 1878, manufactured in Glasgow, Scotland. The still is located in the Areias region of Paraíba, a traditional area for artisanal cachaça production in Brazil. Currently, this cachaça is recognized for its quality. Five cachaças from Paraíba received gold medals in the 2022 edition of Expocachaça, Brazil's most renowned distillate competition. The winning spirits from the state included Cachaça Ipueira, Matuta Cristal, and Vitória in the white category, along with Pai Vovô Ouro and Pai Vovô Reserva Especial José Vicente from Fazendas Aliança, in the Blends and Special Crops categories, respectively. This is a white cachaça that has not been aged in wood. Notes: Clear, translucent, bright, with abundant and slow-moving legs in the glass. It has an aromatic profile with floral, fruity, and herbal notes, sweetness from the cane, balanced acidity and alcohol, and a long, pleasant finish. Source: Companhia da Cachaça.
