Starting in 1960, José Maria Santana, known as Zé Santana, commenced cachaça production at a small, water-wheel-driven mill in Guaraciaba, Minas Gerais. Donkeys transported the product, delivered by handlers. The cachaça's renown expanded regionally, boosting demand and necessitating a switch to a larger, steam-powered mill. The Guaraciaba brand was registered five years later, and trucks replaced the donkeys. Soon, it became a preferred beverage in the capital. Currently, Cachaça Guaraciaba is overseen by Zé Santana's successor and is produced annually between June and October, yielding 400,000 to 600,000 liters. Cachaça Guaraciaba Prata 970ml matures for twelve months in jequitibá casks, a native Brazilian timber. It is light with 40% ABV. The taste is delicate and smooth, with balanced acidity. Its scent is both fruity and woody. It complements appetizers and broths well. Source: Cachaçaria Nacional
