This cachaça's creation was driven by locals of the Juréia district, near the Muzambo River in Monte Belo, Minas Gerais, who desired a distinct local product. Júlio César Benjamim, the current proprietor, who had previously only encountered cachaça from his great-grandfather's earlier venture, decided to explore Brazilian spirits. He pursued studies and lectures, examined various stills, and delved into their production methods. In 2015, he planted the initial sugarcane for his cachaça. He then chose a name reflecting his family and the city. Juréia had been a significant railway center for over four decades, and coincidently, Benjamim's family relocated there in 1911, the same year railway construction commenced. Thus, naming his spirit Estação da Cana honored a regional landmark and his family legacy. The cachaças are copper-distilled and aged in wooden vats using a sill system, with rigorous quality checks ensuring a superior distillate. Cachaça Estação da Cana Blend Carvalho e Grápia displays a golden amber hue, signaling its depth and refinement. Matured for a minimum of two years in American oak, French oak, and Grápia barrels, this cachaça is a sensory masterpiece. The wood blend yields a balanced and sophisticated character, merging the finest qualities of each. Oak contributes enveloping notes of vanilla, coconut, chocolate, caramel, and spices like cinnamon and nutmeg, bestowing smoothness, equilibrium, and a delicate sweetness. Grápia, with its understated complexity, offers hints of honey, dried herbs, and herbal freshness, plus a gentle sweetness. The outcome is a medium- to long-finishing cachaça with a smooth, sweet, woody aftertaste, leaving a pleasant sensation. This distinctive combination makes Cachaça Estação da Cana ideal for sipping solo or pairing with refined fare like dark chocolates, aged cheeses, and artisan charcuterie. With 42% alcohol, it presents an innovative and sophisticated option for refined palates, embodying quality and sophistication while offering sensory novelty for those seeking unique experiences.
