The creation of Cachaça Estação da Cana emerged from the desire of residents in the Juréia district, situated along the Muzambo River in Monte Belo, Minas Gerais, to have a high-quality, distinctive product that represented their region. Júlio César Benjamim, the current proprietor and owner of Estação da Cana, who had previously only been exposed to the cachaça his great-grandfather had started years prior, decided to delve into the world of Brazilian distillates. He pursued courses and attended lectures to gain knowledge, familiarized himself with various stills, and conducted in-depth studies of their respective production processes. By 2015, he began cultivating the sugarcane that would form the basis of his cachaça. Once the sugarcane was planted, the focus shifted to selecting a name that would honor his family and the city. This proved straightforward. Juréia had served as a significant railway hub for over four decades. Coincidentally, Benjamim's family had relocated to the area in 1911, the same year construction on the railway commenced. Thus, naming his spirit Estação da Cana was a fitting tribute to an important local landmark and his family heritage. The cachaças are distilled in copper stills and subsequently stored and matured in wooden barrels using a solera system. Rigorous quality control measures are in place to ensure the production of a superior and authentic distillate. Cachaça Estação da Cana Amburana Premium is meticulously matured in 200-liter barrels, utilized for both the first and second aging cycles. This careful process yields a cachaça that tantalizes the senses, revealing notes of spice and a distinct sweetness imparted by the wood. With an alcohol content of 42%, it undergoes 2 years of aging. Its alcohol level is specifically calibrated to produce exceptional cocktails, pairing perfectly with tonic, dried orange, anise, pink peppercorns, and acacia jelly with pepper.
