This cachaça honors Dona Beja. At fifteen, she was abducted by a nobleman and compelled to be his concubine for years due to her stunning looks. Renowned for her allure and seductive charm, Dona Beja amassed wealth and was a significant, debated figure during Brazil's imperial era in the Araxá region of Minas Gerais. Cachaça Dona Beja's history traces back to 1884, when it was crafted at a mill in Morrinhos, Goiás. This property belonged to the mother of the current owner, Mário Morais Marques. The cachaça made then was called Cachaça Rainha and production continued until 1986. In 1970, the current owner's father learned the secrets of cachaça production and aging from his wife's family to uphold the tradition. He took over the mill, using the same recipe, and renamed the cachaça Cachaça do Virgílio. In 1992, the century-old method was revived in Araxá, Minas Gerais, and the spirit was renamed Cachaça Dona Beja. Since that time, efforts have been made to promote and strengthen the brand. This cachaça originates from a century-old recipe; its distinction lies in tradition, family values, the production method, the aging secret, cleanliness, and most importantly, the passion with which it is made, with the sole aim of delighting consumers. Cachaça Dona Beja Clássic, aged three years in oak barrels, is 700ml and has a 40% alcohol content. It presents a golden yellow hue, with notes of dried fruits, caramel, vanilla, and wood, a pleasant sweetness, balanced acidity and alcohol, and a medium-long finish. A find from Cachaçaria Nacional.
