The origin of Bem me Quer dates back over 30 years to Fazenda Santo Antônio das Pitangueiras in Pitangui, Minas Gerais. The estate's mansion, built in 1715, was restored by the brand's owners, José Otávio de Carvalho Lopes and Rosana Romano. A small, old still on the farm produced about six liters of cachaça for celebrations, which was very popular and became a tradition called Romana. Increased demand led to the construction of Alambique Santíssima, producing two brands: Cachaça Santa Romana and Cachaça Bem me Quer. These high-quality, delicious spirits are now sold internationally and are successful in the demanding domestic market. Cachaça Bem me Quer Ouro, a blend of Bálsamo and Oak, is aged for 5 years in oak and Bálsamo barrels. It's rich and complex with 38% alcohol and has won awards. It has a golden amber color, intense aromas of burnt coconut, vanilla, honey, dried fruits, apricot, and almond, with anise, herbal notes, and fennel from the Bálsamo. It has well-balanced acidity, sugar, and alcohol, good body, and a rich, long aftertaste. Source: Cachaçaria Nacional. Pictures by Roberto Brandão.
