Fazenda Barreiras, originally the site of a mining company in the Jequitinhonha Valley, transformed five years ago into a producer of Brazil's oldest and most popular spirit: cachaça, turning sugarcane into a professionally produced distillate. Cachaça Barreiras, a 100% natural and artisanal product, comes from the small town of Senador Modestino Gonçalves, 90 km from Diamantina. The master distiller strictly adheres to the artisanal process that began in the region over 300 years ago and has pleased discerning palates. With entrepreneurial vision from Business Administrator Guto Barbosa Mello and Mining Engineer Ramiro Dias Toledo, part of the farm was converted into a modern cachaça production facility, featuring a copper still, several oak aging barrels, its own sugarcane field, and a monthly capacity of two thousand liters. Distribution and sales began in late 2013, and it has since been featured at events like the World Cachaça Festival in Salinas, Superminas, Expocachaça, and Cachaça Gourmet, earning recognition and appreciation in Minas Gerais and São Paulo. Currently, two types of Cachaça Barreiras are offered: silver, which is unaged, and gold, aged for two years in oak. From sugarcane harvesting, using no pesticides, through fermentation, distillation, and storage, Barreiras ensures a top-quality product with a distinct origin. It's a cachaça with a unique formula, unmistakable color, smooth aroma, and special flavor, meeting the standards of every good connoisseur. Source: Cachaça Barreiras and Cachaçaria Nacional.
