Cachaça Amélia has been produced since 1916 in Paraisópolis, Minas Gerais. João da Amélia, a respected figure, arrived at Fazenda Santa Luzia equipped with a large water wheel, an iron mill, a copper still, and fermentation tanks. Sugarcane fields stretched across the property, supplying the mill. João da Amélia's determination led to the creation of the region's most esteemed pinga. Its reputation grew, reaching the towns of Cambuí and Córrego do Bom Jesus. Soon, a team of twenty donkeys began transporting 1,500 liters of the drink to distribute it among drovers and villages. It's a straightforward cachaça, but Amélia's production follows traditional methods. Source: Cachaçaria Nacional.
