An exceptional pour, brimming with notes of cherry liqueur, berries, chocolate, toffee, treacle, spices, dates, figs, plums, raisins, honey, and nuts. The nose shows some influence from virgin oak alongside the sherry, but the palate and finish are predominantly shaped by the canasta influence. Based on taste and the website's description, this likely utilized a greater proportion of 36-year-old canasta casks than 32-year-old virgin oak casks. This is unequivocally the finest whisky I have ever sampled. I generally appreciate the slightly sweet, somewhat briny profile of Bunnahabhain. I opted to try a measure at the distillery. It was consistently smooth during the entire tasting. Considering the Bunnahabhain 30 year old, this represents excellent value.
