Bunnahabhain 1998 Calvados Cask Finish (Fèis Ìle 2022 Release)

Nose: Herbal, green notes, tree sap, struck match/sulfur, dates, prunes, toffee. Palate: Sweet and fruity, malt, cereal, toffee apple, dried fruit (pressed dates & figs), faint wisps of peat smoke, savory undertones, a touch of salinity. Finish: Moderately long. Dark, spicy, green/herbal/grassy notes. Dark dried fruits. The smoke intensifies on the finish, becoming dry on the aftertaste. Smooth, sweet, and fruity. Numerous layers alternate between malty cereal, apple, and pressed dates, culminating in a herbal, grassy, and smoky finish. This is a fantastic dram! It ranked fifth out of the six samples, receiving 8% of the vote for the night's favorite. Sixty percent of attendees enjoyed the whisky. This one received my vote for favorite of the tasting.
