The score of 69 seems a bit severe; I certainly detected no acetone. It has aromas of rum, vanilla, caramel, and sugars. The palate reveals a definite brandy influence (the label indicates it was finished in a blend of brandy & cognac casks). It begins very fruity, with vanilla and a hint of oak, leaving a tingling sensation in the mouth, inviting another taste. There's another expression available, an 8-year-old rum finished in port casks. It's much darker; I haven't tried it, but it smells very appealing.

This is definitely not a rum I will purchase again. It tastes only of alcohol, and the flavors I expect from rum like vanilla, coconut, caramel, banana, and raisins are conspicuously absent.
Sweet, vanilla, and a little oily with a pleasant finish. Far superior to a 69. I sampled the small batch Vintage Edition. A really good rum for any occasion.
