Aroma: vanilla, caramel, cola, cinnamon, allspice, molasses, floral hints, confectioners' sugar, cherry, raspberry, with a slight to noticeable ethanol sting. Flavor: cola, cinnamon, cherry syrup, molasses, clove, vanilla, buttercream, black pepper, tart oak, a mild to moderate alcoholic prickle, with a medium-short finish featuring cola, vanilla, and tart, bitter oak notes. This is not a great spirit, but it's a little better than Captain Morgan in my estimation. The higher proof might be the reason for this. It lacks the overwhelming sweet carnival candy character of the other. There's a cherry-like fruit essence that diversifies the palate, though it leans towards cherry syrup rather than actual cherries. The oak presence is also more pronounced compared to Captain Morgan. It's not a fantastic oak profile, but it does contribute some body. In conclusion, if you must select one, opt for the Sailor over the Captain, unless the small price difference is a major factor. It's not intended for sipping, but it will perform adequately when mixed with cola.

The smell is sweet, with mild spice, fruit, and a touch of muddiness. I detect vanilla first, followed by something like nail polish remover, then a dash of weak burnt caramel, a strong note of cherry cola, a hint of allspice, and a whisper of banana. It's hot on the palate, as expected at 46% ABV. The flavors mirror the nose, with a bit more spice, and the cherry cola dominates. It's rather dry, almost harsh. The body is good, substantial in the mouth, but unremarkable. Visually, however, it's stunning, creating a high, tight ring of small beads that slowly turn into substantial, attractive legs. The finish is moderate, slightly dry, a little spicy, quite tannic, and even carries a hint of hogo. It's not terrible straight, though clearly meant as a mixer, and that's where it truly excels with its higher-than-average ABV, added flavor, and no added sugar. Nose: 6 Palate: 6 Body: 7 Finish: 6

A video game inspired my first purchase of rum and spirits. The game captivated me, leading me to buy my first bottle. It's amusing how a video game steered me toward substance use. That bottle was Sailor Jerry, and I enjoyed it, but the price of $30-31 CAD is steep for me. I generally look to spend $23-26 per bottle as I'm on a budget. I took three 30mg doses of prescribed Codeine for chronic pain, totaling 90mg, and drank a good amount of this rum. Simultaneously, I experienced severe difficulty breathing and feared an overdose. I was unable to even lift my head before passing out in bed. I acknowledge the foolishness of combining opioids and alcohol; I assure you, the lesson was learned, and I will not repeat it. I rate this highly, a full 5 stars, because this bottle holds enjoyable summer memories for me. Its 46% alcohol content ensures an easy buzz.

A truly authentic maritime blended Rum! It's flawless, from its use in teas to sipping it straight. Overall, the taste is sweet, gentle on the palate, and has a very nice finish. You can definitely discern the exotic spices, warm vanilla, and sweet cinnamon. If you haven't experienced this remarkable blend, you owe your tastebuds and your throat the pleasure of trying this rum! Your senses will thank you eternally!

Well, it's a bit overhyped, but still ranks among the very good spiced rums available. It's very well-balanced, with a nice hint of vanilla among all the spices and hardly any extra burn. It's excellent with Coke and a squeeze of lime, a pleasant evening drink, but perhaps too "balanced" for my preference. Lacks adventure. Doesn't provide any extra joy beyond the satisfaction of a "good quality spiced rum." But who could refuse Sailor Jerry...

I detected caramel and Madagascar vanilla in this rum. It doesn't offer much beyond that, but the flavor does evolve. Despite the floral notes, it's the richest and most robust spiced rum I've encountered in this price category. It possesses a pleasant, balanced sweetness and doesn't taste diluted at all.
