Cinematic. The phone battery? Castle & Key Wheated Small Batch – A smooth operator with historical appeal and a wheaty charm. 3. Maker’s Mark Private Selection – Individually chosen and full of character. Like a bourbon in a tuxedo, but with no pants. 4. Larceny Barrel Proof – This one hits hard, like a powerful linebacker in luxurious loungewear. Wheated, bold, and excellent. 5. Penelope Rio – A liquid dessert. Like crème brûlée and a piña colada had a baby, raised by bourbon monks. Review #28 - Whisk(e)y #19 Appearance - Deep golden amber with chestnut undertones, appears oily, medium legs. Alcohol by Volume - 40% Nose - Strong, sweet, honey, vanilla, typical bourbon scents, with an underlying spice, an oily aroma, and some alcohol as well. It seems a little heavier than anticipated on the nose, mostly because of the very noticeable honey. Taste - Not as oily as I might expect at first, slightly watery on the front end, becoming creamy and thicker on the back end. It is very smooth, with some spice that vanishes quickly, but generally sweet, with a lot of honey, vanilla, and caramel. After airing a bit, it gets even more oily, creamy, and thick. Finish - Short to medium length, sweet, actually quite creamy, with a hint of leathery dryness at the end, the oak influence from its brief time in the barrels begins to show. With a few drops of water, the subtle spiciness is further subdued, bringing out the honey sweetness and surprisingly maintaining the creaminess and thickness. The finish, however, might become a little shorter. Overall it is much better than I anticipated for 18 euros. I have more experience with scotch, so this seems rather one-dimensional, definitely not as good when compared to Woodford Reserve Distiller's Select, which is more complex, but again, Buffalo Trace is considerably cheaper. Very accessible, pleasant, not overly engaging, but enjoyable, surpasses its price point in drinkability across both Irish and Scotch.

This is a familiar spirit. An absolute icon. This distillery is owned by Sazerac. The distillery produces well-known whiskey lines such as Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare, E. H. Taylor, Blanton's, and Weller, among others. This bourbon is the best whiskey available globally for its price. That's a bold claim, I realize. 👃 No surprises here. Perhaps some traditional dark cherry. Older spirits are smoother on the nose. This one isn't unpleasant, but it's not particularly noteworthy. 👄 Caramel, butterscotch, leather, and more. All the classic bourbon flavors to discover across your palate. This. Is. Bourbon. 🏁 It's remarkably smooth... More of that dark cherry from the aroma. Not exceptionally high proof, but the finish at this price point is unmatched. 👍 If you're new to this and considering it. Purchase a bottle. You won't be disappointed. As I'm new to bourbon and drinking it neat, it's a challenge. However, I've managed to detect cinnamon on the sides of my tongue. The more I drink it, the better I understand the flavor, though it's still difficult for me to identify other notes. It's becoming less unpleasant to drink, thankfully. My sense of smell isn't strong, which might affect my ability to profile it accurately.

Buffalo Trace's reputation is well-deserved. Friends who enjoy bourbon consistently rank this highly. It's suitable for beginners and offers familiar caramel/vanilla notes with fruity undertones that are widely appealing. A subtle cherry essence on the palate enhances its enjoyment neat or in mixed drinks. While good, it's not quite as captivating as some other bourbons I've experienced.

The aroma has hints of cherry candy, caramel, vanilla, and a touch of cinnamon. The taste is light and sweet with a delicate mouthfeel. Caramel and vanilla are the main flavors I detect at the start of the palate. As the taste progresses, I notice a subtle apple note that transitions into an oakiness that dominates through the finish. The oaky finish is quite brief and leaves a little bitterness and dryness.
