About this bottle

Part of Diageo's Orphan Barrel Whisky Co. portfolio, Muckety-Muck Single Grain 24 Year is a single grain whisky from the now-closed Port Dundas Distillery (1810-2010). It aged for 24 years. The distillery once housed a piggery where draff from mashing fed the pigs. The bottle features Muckety-Muck, a prize-winning boar, with six label variations showing his tartan sash in red, green, blue, gray, yellow, or orange.

Kassandra Cornejo 3.3

Nose: vanilla, subtle oak, moderate to low aroma, cream Palate: echoes the aroma — a bit subdued in intensity for a 24-year-old spirit, I had hoped for more substance. Caramel notes are present but veiled. It’s not terrible, but it’s not worth the price.

Jackie Pepper 3.8

A good whiskey. The $250 price tag is a bit steep, but that's expected for Orphan Barrel. Knowing that the distiller is no longer active adds to the enjoyment.

Porter Ridley 4.0

Wow, this was not what I expected at all! Definitely worth the price of $70, and I got a good view of downtown Houston.

Javon Stuart 5.0

Baked sugar, subtle caramel notes, and a persistent dried fruit finish.

Rohan Kendall 3.8

I have sampled lighter single grains, and this one seems a bit overwhelmed for its age.
