I'm unsure how this bottle came into my possession. It was produced in 2003, making it a 5-year-old spirit, so it would have been bottled around 2008 or 2009. I discovered it during a renovation at my local liquor store in 2017, nearly a decade after its expected release. It felt like it arrived unexpectedly. This is among the most unique whiskies I've ever encountered. The indication of only 5 years of age might suggest a rough, unpolished malt, but this was precisely the opposite. This is unequivocally the most luxurious tasting whisky I've experienced. Everything about it felt smooth and rich. The aroma is dominated by cream, vanilla, malt, and a chocolate milkshake topped with whipped cream. The taste was, predictably, smooth. Its creaminess was exceptional. The mouthfeel was unlike anything I've experienced before, more akin to a cream liqueur than a whisky. The flavors matched the nose's promise: a rich, creamy dessert profile with vanilla custard, whipped cream, brown sugar, and abundant malt. The finish was medium at best, with the rich creaminess yielding to vanilla and a touch of nutmeg. Once again, this was a remarkably unique and enjoyable whisky, differing significantly from any other Bruichladdich expression I've tried. I purchased a 2009 organic bottling hoping for similarities, but found none; the 2009 clearly relates to the Classic Laddie, while this 2003 is entirely distinct. If you have the means, seek this one out!

tastes are in harmony. I wish the smoke was more pronounced, but it's a really solid pour. I'd definitely try it again if it were available
