Bruichladdich Islay Barley We Believe Terroir Matters

The aroma brings to mind summer hay and floral notes. The palate has dried fruit, pepper, and cloves. The finish has the peppery notes and cloves lingering. Throughout, I detected some salty flavors, and adding water accentuates that for me. Overall, it's light but spicy and enjoyable. A great dram to compare against another non-peated dram and then a peated one to discern what peat truly does. On some occasions, I do perceive a salty smoke that reminds me of some peated Islays, but I'm uncertain if I'm imagining it...

The nose shows youth and some rubber. Then raisins. As it develops, chocolate appears with honey, vanilla, and light ester notes. Perhaps even some rye? On the palate, the youth is evident. Sure, barley is present - cereal dominates. It's spicy. It finishes with some black pepper and salt, plus a hint of chocolate. Short, and it fades quite quickly. It's quite dry. I get it though - a young spirit treated well, showcasing the barley without excessive wood influence. It's simple and well-crafted.

Nose: sweetness (caramel and vanilla), hint of floral notes. Bit of sharp alcohol. Tapioca. More sweet than the Classic Laddie. Palate: sweet, pungent spices. More pungent than the Classic Laddie. Finish: long, oakiness, bitterness, pungent spices remain longer. Little bit of coffee.

Funky stewed fruits and vanilla cream on the nose. Floral barley, pickled ginger, citrus oil, earthy, vegetal notes. It's drying. Mild finish.

Nose: Light, fruity, and sweet. Palate: Sea salt, honey, walnuts. Finish: Medium length, with wood spice and a dry end.

Citrus notes, reminiscent of a young American single malt, less smoky than the classic laddie
