Originating in the Dominican Republic, Brugal Extra Dry Supremo is made from molasses and represents a tradition dating to the mid-19th century. The spirit is aged in American white oak barrels that previously held whiskey. It undergoes triple filtration to achieve a clear appearance and clean taste. The US bottling is 40% ABV, though this may differ internationally. It was previously known as Brugal Blanco Especial Extra Dry.

A rather solid choice for making cocktails. Aromas are very mild, with slight hints of plain cream and distant Dutch-processed cocoa, much like a heavily distilled neutral spirit. Palate offers mild palm sugar-like or butterscotch sweetness, but is mostly dry with a little creaminess. Makes great daiquiris and Mojitos when a nice dry rum is desired.
Tastes a bit sweet with some tropical fruit notes, but this is strictly a mixing rum that functions adequately. Not bad for the cost. As of 2023, Brugal is discontinuing this specific rum. Stock up while you can!
Nutmeg on the nose, caramelized banana flavor with a slightly warming sensation in the mouth.
I like to swap it out for Bacardi.
