About this bottle
Icelandic caraway-flavored aquavit, Brennivín, was first made available in 1935, shortly after the country partially ended its Prohibition. The distinctive black and white label was intended as a deterrent but had the reverse effect. Brennivín, often called Black Death or svartidauði, arrived in the U.S. in 2014.
