Norden Aquavit

Summary: A harmonious, distinctive, and intricate spirit, perfect served neat or in cocktails. We are fortunate to reside in Michigan, where this spirit was initially released and where most of its components are sourced. Since its market debut in 2017, our household has consistently kept a bottle of Norden readily accessible, and not due to infrequent consumption. With both a professional bartender and an enthusiastic amateur whiskey drinker of Swedish heritage in our home, its remarkable adaptability quickly won us over. Even at 90 proof and room temperature, it's an easy spirit to drink, a trait unusual for clear, unaged spirits. Served chilled during dinner as a traditional Scandinavian snaps (or during a hectic bar shift!), it's both invigorating and soothing. It also performs admirably in cocktails; its extensive profile of 10 botanicals allows for versatility in herbal or citrus-forward sours, savory martinis, and robust Manhattan/Old Fashioned variations. Norden Aquavit stands as both an excellent example of Taffel Style aquavits and an accessible introduction for those new to the category.

A departure from traditional Akvavit: This could be my favorite new spirit. I discovered it while vacationing in Colorado and was unexpectedly delighted. Who would have thought it would be so good in hot chocolate!!! I had to try it (chilled, the traditional way) immediately afterward. It did not disappoint. I can envision using it instead of gin too! If only it were available in the UK!

Excellent for sipping straight or incorporating into your favorite cocktails. Smooth, velvety notes of dill and caraway, with orange peel and sumac. It serves as a fantastic gin alternative for those who dislike the strong juniper flavor, and I always suggest it to whiskey enthusiasts. I always keep two bottles of this on my bar.

This product is absolutely remarkable, delivering a depth of flavor and complexity rarely encountered in spirits of this nature. An essential for both cocktail and spirit aficionados, as well as professionals. An excellent brand with outstanding individuals behind it! Definitely acquire this one!
