Bombay Sapphire Gin

This gin is refined yet approachable, crisp, clean, and dangerously smooth. It features less juniper and more of a blend of exotic botanicals, offering citrus, spice, and a distinctly earthy, herbal character. The vapor infusion process lends it an sophisticated feel, making one feel more intelligent than the surroundings. The bottle is visually appealing and iconic, worthy of display, and the flavor profile consistently matches its presentation. I particularly appreciated the botanical illustrations on the container, which looked attractive when chilled, complementing the light blue hue of the glass. It's elegant with a kick, bold enough to be enjoyed neat over ice with a lime twist.

Bombay Sapphire Gin offers an aroma of earthy orris root, followed by juniper, citrus, and spices. The initial taste is tart, with flavors of juniper berries, cassia bark, and orris root on the palate. The finish includes juniper, coriander, and spices. Bombay Sapphire Gin's dominant orris root flavor can be overpowering and isn't recommended for sipping straight. However, Bombay Sapphire Gin blends well in classic gin cocktails like martinis and gin and tonics.

Spicy and Earthy: I detect dark notes in this gin. It has a taste reminiscent of a traditional gin, but with a spicy edge. Towards the end, an earthiness emerges, and occasionally, a hint of perfume can be detected. I appreciate this gin for its boldness. It's one of the few I can enjoy neat. I also love this gin in a collins. The drawback is its slightly higher cost compared to Beefeater and Tanqueray, but that distinctive blue bottle is quite appealing.

A crisp London Dry Gin from England, triple distilled. It begins aromatically with juniper and lemon notes. Its balanced development includes almond, licorice, orris, angelica, coriander, cassis, cubeb, and grains of paradise, culminating in a complex finish. Distilled in November 2015, January 2018, and August 2023.

Nose: citrusy, juniper, light spice, smooth aroma, a little alcohol. Taste: smooth, juniper, just a hint of citrus, the aromas are a bit hidden now, a little alcohol. Finish: alcoholic with juniper. Overall: a nice aroma that fades, with alcohol becoming more prominent and the flavors getting lost.

Predominantly mellow, with a subtle vegetal touch, black pepper, and citrus. Despite its 47% ABV, I still favor this over the weaker 44% Beefeater for most mixed drinks. Keep in mind, Beefeater packs a much stronger juniper punch, so opt for that one if you desire intense juniper.
