Black Velvet Reserve

Aged 8 years. 80 proof, sharp aroma, smells mostly of that odd Canadian sweetness, slightly off putting. This one might be bottled in Canada unlike the standard black velvet. It was priced only 4 bucks more than the standard BV as well. It was 13.99 for a 750 ml. It has a similar taste to regular BV, maybe a little less rye/sweet up front, yet still on the sweet side but not over doing it and you get the white oak or used oak on the back end. Taste better than it smells. Super smooth like water. A touch better than regular Black Velvet. Grade: C

Nose: Rye spice, caramel, plums, ginger. Palate: Brown sugar, molasses, pears, apples. Finish: Ginger and some baking spices. This is a very unremarkable whisky. It's very smooth and easy to sip, feeling watered down. It's not bad, but it's very subtle in both aroma and taste, fading quickly. Suitable for beginners or as a mixer. It pairs well with coke.

An incredibly smooth, enjoyable, light spirit offering amazing value! If you've got about sixteen bucks and want a fun, easy-drinking spirit to enjoy on its own or with companions, there aren't many better options. It's exceptionally easy to drink, yet it possesses a distinct and decent flavor profile. A light, refreshing choice to savor.

A light scent of vanilla caramel, with some alcohol burn. The taste is strange; camel vanilla and oak clash in a way I found mostly unpleasant. I purchased this for a friend, and while the gesture didn't cost me much, I still found it lacking.

Clear, golden color with a few viscous legs. The nose presents typical grain whisky notes, along with vanilla, oak, and nougat. The palate mirrors this, possibly with a touch of rye pepper spice. The mouthfeel is medium to full, with a lingering finish. I find it somewhat harsh. A friend's opinion.

Better than anticipated. Bring it to a gathering as a sipper, let people try it and be surprised by how good it is because it's so much better than regular Black Velvet. You won't mind leaving it behind if you consume more than expected.
