The second maturation seems to impart a beneficial oak character. The nose is faint due to its youth, and the finish is quite short and slightly drying. However, the rye flavor is substantial for a younger product, making it enjoyable. It should perform well in cocktails, offering a pleasant, unadulterated rye spice. I'm pleased to have supported this veteran-owned venture in Alabama.

This rye presents a bit more oak and char compared to the typical offering. They utilize a double barrel method. At roughly two years old, it still seems a tad immature, though not offensively so. For the time being, I'd likely reserve it primarily for cocktails. I'm curious to observe its development with further maturation. The cost is considerable, but that's largely a consequence of the absurdly high liquor prices in AL.

From memory. This reminded me of another whiskey. Both whiskeys from that brand have very heavy charring, with some water it gets a tad better, but the charred oak taste dominated the bottle. It honestly didn't taste much like rye. I gave it away, and I don't recommend it at that price range.
